General Description:

The Respite Clinical Services Supervisor is primarily responsible for coordinating, managing, and supervising services provided within psychiatric crisis-respite. This position provides documented clinical supervision to individuals who provide direct services to clients in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules. Generally, this position manages Brooks Respite services to promote crisis stabilization, provides direct treatment and stabilization services to individuals in psychiatric crisis, and provides leadership and direct supervision to all respite program staff. The Respite Clinical Services Supervisor reports directly to the Program Director and needs to develop a strong relationship with all team members.

Education: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), required; Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral science, or related filed, required

Position Duties:

1. Clinical Services

  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment including histories of mental and physical health, substance use, criminal justice contacts, and assessing family, social and work relationships. Ability to provide diagnosis consistent with DSM-5
    Perform ongoing crisis and safety evaluations to clients experiencing psychiatric crisis
  • Demonstrate competence in case management and coordination, utilization of community resources, group, family, and individual therapy or counseling
  • Perform individual and group treatment sessions, as well as delegate these functions to appropriate clinical staff. Document and provide rationale for services provided
  • Demonstrate skills in de-escalation and services that promote crisis stabilization
  • Knowledge of strength-based and trauma-informed interventions appropriate for crisis stabilization – such as Intentional Peer Support, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and other trauma-informed practices
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality per HIPAA, 42 CFR, Oregon Statutes, and Brooks Policies

2. Team Supervision and Leadership

  • Demonstrate the ability to manage time effectively, model good communication skills, act independently, problem solve complex issues, and organization
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage facility milieu and safety
    Afterhours on-call and accessible by telephone for personnel support, admission screening, and emergencies. Must provide documentation and follow-up in a timely manner
  • May be required to provide shift coverage in emergency situations
    Manage admissions to crisis-respite placement, in accordance with program admission criteria
  • Develop and maintain staff schedule, on-call rotation, and other tasks related to scheduling
  • Provide & document supervision for each program staff in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules
  • Provide orientation and training to program staff to maintain program operation and compliance
  • Develop and maintain staff schedule, on-call rotation, and other tasks related to scheduling
  • May be required to provide shift coverage in emergency situations
  • Works closely with other program staff as a member of a multidisciplinary team and is dedicated to a healthy work environment for the benefit of employees and clients served
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with community partners, including St. Charles hospital, law enforcement, community mental health programs, and other similar agencies. Promote Brooks Respite & Recovery through a partnership
  • Assist with chart and program audits to ensure compliance with facility accreditation, licensing, State laws, and other regulatory requirements
  • Assist in conducting annual performance evaluations of program staff
  • May assist Director with daily oversight of stabilizing individuals, personnel, and provide feedback to Brooks leadership team as identified by the Director
  • Attend required program meetings, trainings, and supervision designated by Director

3. Other duties as assigned by Program Director

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral science, or related field, required
  • Post-graduate experience in mental health setting, required
    LPC or LCSW, required
  • Experience providing services to individuals with Severe and Persistence Mental Illness (SPMI), preferred
  • Understanding and competency serving individuals experiencing psychiatric crisis, including individuals that present with complex co-occurring mental health, substance use, and/or medical disorders
  • Ability to demonstrate good communication, flexibility, and milieu management. Ability to work effectively in a variety of cultural context
  • Have the ability to work independently and also have the skills to be a team player
  • Must have the ability to get along with co-workers
  • Possess the ability to network with all resources in order to provide the best customer service
  • Use good customer service skills with the clients or family members seeking help from our program.

Tools and Equipment Used:

Must have competency using computer for work processing, databases, internet, and electronic medical record usage. Experience with Microsoft Office is a plus. Must be able to use basic office equipment including fax machine and telephone. Must have a valid driver’s license.
