Brooks Detox is recruiting for FULL-TIME Detoxification Technician, CNA .

General Duties: The Certified Nurses Aide works in the medically managed detoxification unit along with a team of experienced RN’s, LPN’s, Detox Counselors, Recovery Mentors, and physicians. In accordance with the Oregon Administrative Rules, Division 63 “Standards and Authorized Duties for a Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medication Aide, and under the direction of the licensed nurse, the CNA will assist with nursing care and collaborate with the team to carry out the plan of care.

Education / Licensure: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Duties:

  1. Taking Vital signs,
  2. Documenting vital signs and other care in the electronic health record,
  3. Keeping detox quiet
  4. Answering phones and assist with housekeeping duties,
  5. May assist with the intake process as directed by nursing staff, except for standing orders, review of system, detox plan of care and the medical
  6. Performing UA’s for drug, alcohol and pregnancy testing,
  7. Using motivational interviewing and active listening to support clients recovering from drug/alcohol dependence,
  8. Checking in visitors and supervising detox clients,
  9. Assisting with activities of daily living when indicated,

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Oregon CNA license
  • Current CPR certification
  • For individuals recovering from the disease of alcoholism and/or from other drug addiction, have maintained continuous sobriety for the immediate past two years at the time of hire.

Skills Required:

  • The ability to communicate well with both patients and other medical staff.
  • The ability to provide supportive, non judgmental, care to clients recovering from alcohol/substance abuse.
  • The ability to ensure a safe and clean Working erivironnient complying with Oregon OSHA, BestCare Policies and Procedures, Oregon Administrative Rules and the CNA Scope of Practice as defined by the Oregon Administrative Rules.
  • The ability to work as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team

Tool and Equipment Used:
All Detox staff must be proficient in the use of computers, sufficient to use the EMR software program and produce routine End of Shift reports; to do intake and client documentation.  Additionally, must be able to use the following:  blood pressure machines (digital and manual), glucometers, fax machine, copy machine and telephone.
